Cava & Banko, PLLC relies on its computer network to conduct business. To ensure that its computer resources are used properly by its employees, Cava & Banko, PLLC has created this Computer Use Policy.

Computers, computer files, e-mail, telephone and voicemail systems, and software furnished to staff members are firm property intended for business use. Staff members should not attempt to use a password, access a file, or retrieve any stored communication without authorization. To ensure compliance with this policy, computer, voicemail, and e-mail usage may be monitored. The firm reserves the right to monitor the firm’s communication systems and therefore there exists no right to privacy for our staff members when using these systems.

The firm strives to maintain a workplace free of harassment and sensitive to the diversity of its staff. Therefore, the firm prohibits the use of computers, phones, voicemail, and e-mail systems in ways that are illegal, disruptive, offensive to others, or harmful to morale.

For example, the display or transmission of sexually defamatory images, messages, and cartoons is not allowed. Other such misuse includes, but is not limited to, ethnic slurs, racial comments, off-color jokes, or anything that may be construed as harassment or showing disrespect for others. Although we may have little control over inbound Internet e-mail, staff members should avoid passing on inappropriate messages or images. Staff members should also notify senders to refrain from sending messages with inappropriate content.

The firm purchases and licenses the use of various computer software for business purposes and does not own the copyright to this software or its related documentation. Unless authorized by the software developer, the firm does not have the right to reproduce such software for use on more than one computer.

Staff members may only use software on local area networks or on multiple machines according to the software license agreement. The firm prohibits the illegal duplication of software and its related documentation.

Staff members should notify their immediate supervisor, the Regional Human Resources Generalist, or any member of management upon learning of violations of this policy. Staff members who violate this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

The rules and obligations described in this Policy apply to all users of Cava & Banko, PLLC’s computer network, wherever they may be located. Violations will be taken very seriously and may result in disciplinary action, including termination.

It is every employee's duty to use all computer resources responsibly, professionally, ethically, and lawfully.

The computers and computer accounts given to employees are to assist them in performance of their jobs. Employees should not have an expectation of privacy in anything they create, store, send, or receive on the computer system. The computer system belongs to the firm and may be used only for business purposes.

Employees expressly waive any right of privacy in anything they create, store, send, or receive on the computer or through the Internet or any other computer network. Employees consent to allowing personnel of Cava & Banko, PLLC to access and review all materials employees create, store, send, or receive on the computer or through the Internet or any computer network.
